The C Word. Again.

A little over a month ago Debra, my dad's wife, found out she had breast cancer. Potentially inflammatory breast cancer, a particularly evil & nasty form of the disease. Two weeks later she was undergoing chemo. After three rounds, she'll have a double mastectomy and then three more rounds of chemo and possibly radiation. And if that's all she has to contend with, we'll consider her lucky. It's hard to imagine praying please, let it only be breast cancer.

The doctors are treating this aggressively. They told her she will be losing all her hair. So in a show of solidarity, everyone got a shave.

Debra & my dad

My little bro & dad

She is dealing with her new reality with such a can-do, cancer-kicking positivity that if it weren't for the bald head, you would never know the battle going on inside her.

We wish you the very best, Debra. I am in awe of your spirit.
