Sprinkler Park

The boys and I met up with a bunch of mamas & babies at the sprinkler park.


There's a little button you can push that will make water shoot out of the ground in long, arcing streams. Most of the babies weren't too fond of being sprayed in the face. Others ran right up to the spouts and waited eagerly for it.


Joseph started making his way across the battlefield...


...and got caught in the cross-fire of 3 different water streams and was none too happy about it.


But as you can see, he quickly got over it.


And the peasants rejoiced.



Luke wasn't interested in getting wet. Instead he spent the afternoon fixated on his monkey.


After making eyes at each other all day, they tried running off into the sunset. But never made it too far under Mama's watch. I think I'm in trouble if we ever lose that damn thing.

One Sleepy Baby

Apologies. I'm getting pretty constant reminders of what a bad blogger I am (Mom!) so just wanted to say sorry about that! It's shameful, I know.

But to make up for it, here's a pretty cute video of Luke about to pass out at dinner.



Poor baby. Their naps have been all messed up lately, trying to drop down to one per day but not quite having the stamina for it yet. Luke has always needed a bit more sleep than Joseph, and today he just could not hang on for a second longer.

I scooped him up, hoping to get him through bath time & changed for bed as quickly as possible.

And, ummm, not so much...


All he was interested in was rolling over onto his belly to get comfy and falling asleep. I managed to get him out of his clothes, changed his diaper and got him into pj's without a single peep. Sweet boy. :)


I have lots more that I've been meaning to post, and I promise to work on those soon. Look for some sneaky back-dated blogs to come. Sorry again for the hiatus. And, FYI, mobility is highly over-rated.

Every. Single. Night.




Oh, but he's not done yet. Until there's nothing left, he won't let us put on a diaper or his pj's.





It's a losing battle so we've resigned ourselves to defeat.

Making the Most of Spring

We met the Mamas & the Babies for another picnic in the park.


It feels like as every day of spring passes, I live in growing fear of summer. I know that at any moment the temperatures will shoot up from the cool, refreshing 70s and low 80s to hotter-than-hell-with-humidity-and-bugs 90s and 100s. I wish spring would last a little longer in Texas. It would give us more opportunities to sample everyone else's sippy cups...


...and slobber over other people's toys.


But until that oppressive heat arrives, I'm trying to make the most of it with the boys. Oh, summer, please be gentle with us!

A Little Yard Work/Play

Confession: Property values in our hood are suffering as a direct result of our front yard.

The weeds are out of control. Grass is almost non-existent. The soil is shot. It's disgraceful and needs a LOT of work. But until we have the time/cash/patience/plan to address it properly, we're gonna have to fake it, i.e. mowing the weeds and hoping they're green enough to pass and not tick off the neighbors.

Before that first mow, however, I wanted to take some time to pull dandelions, sticky weed, and spotted spurge. (Yes, I looked up those last two so I could give my enemies a name.) While I was hard at work, Greg earned his keep by entertaining the boys.


Luke was concentrating hard on those keys while Joseph got the tickle treatment from Daddy.



I love the look on Joseph's face in this one. So sweet!

FYI, keys are delicious.




We are soaking up this fresh, cool weather before it gets hotter than Hades around here. Why can't it be spring that last 6 months instead of summer?

The Easter Egg Hunt That Wasn't

An unexpected marathon nap meant we showed up to the boys' first Easter egg hunt just as most people were leaving. But some of the very nice stragglers shared a few with the boys.

The boys still had a great time crawling around...


...or hanging out & eating Puffs, as the case may be, since Joseph hasn't got the whole crawling thing down yet.


Since we missed the big hunt, we were left to our own devices in the fun department.


Wheeeeeee!



The boys had a great time, and we got a work-out. Win, win!

As for Easter egg hunting, there's always next year.

Picnic In The Park

Some friends from the icy, cold tundra of the North came down to Austin for a visit - Kristi & Kinley from Michigan and Bobbi from Minnesota. So the Mamas & the Babies met up for a picnic in the park.


As usual, the boys shot off to bogart all of poor Ethan's toys.


Luke flung himself back to bask in the glory of other people's toys...


...while Joseph chuckled as his evil plot fell into place.


Luke & Alessandra played it cool so as not to expose their secret love affair.


But Joseph, throwing caution to the wind, made his big move.



Luke decided he wants in on that action and moved in for the kill.

It was great seeing you ladies! We miss you soo, sooo, soooo much!
